'Bloom borg' story
slashed and burned
Today's print edition of the New York Daily News has this tabloid cover headline:

BLOOM
BORG
Big Brother is watching you,
so get used to it: Mike

On Page 5, Tina Moore's story was headlined:

DRONE CITY
* Mike: cameras everywhere
* Tells people: get used to it

The online version not only burned all the zinger heads, it also offers, even in its New York section, a truncated version of the story.

I can't be sure of the reason for this editorial decision by the online staff. Did they get a call from Hizzoner's office complaining about the "Bloom Borg" pun? Or do we have a case of regular newspaper people who know a good story when they see one being overriden by the militant leftists who run the News? Were they worried that the story tended to legitimize "paranoid conspiracy theorists" among libertarians, who also had made an issue of Bloomberg's remarks? Not sure, really.
