The groups ARTICLE 19 and International Media Support are calling on President Viktor Yanukovych and his administration to ensure that Ukraine upholds its commitments to freedom of expression and in particular press freedom under the European Convention of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Since the end of February 2010, the press freedom situation in the country has eroded, the press groups assert.
